BurgerMapp Mobile Application Concept & Design

Inspired by my love for burgers, I aimed to develop an app connecting burger enthusiasts in New York City. I envisioned a platform where users could rate, share, and discover the best burgers, making informed dining decisions easier.

An App For Burger Lover’s
Users rate burgers they've tried, and the app aggregates these scores to rank burgers citywide. An interactive map allows users to find top-rated burgers nearby, enhancing their culinary adventures in New York City.

Establishing a Feature Set & Laying the Foundation With a Sitemap

My idea would require 5 features:
  • a burger ranking function.
  • aggregated totals for each burger in the form of an interactive map.
  • restaurant info and links for users wanting to book a table.
  • a page for burger descriptions.
  • a social component enabling users to connect and interact with other users.

I developed a site map to show how each of these functions would connect, giving the app an structure.

Sketches Help Work Out the UI & Generate New Ideas
Before developing wireframes, I used sketches to creatively work out the information hierarchy and interaction details. This process led to the development of an additional new feature: user-submitted burger rankings would be sorted and grouped into lists based on specific criteria, such as 'Best Gourmet Burger' and 'Best Classic Burger.'

Refining the Vision With Wireframes
Detailed wireframes brought clarity to the app's structure and functionality. They allowed for precise adjustments and fine-tuning, helping to refine the initial concept into a cohesive and user-friendly design.
Testing the App
I developed a mid-fidelity prototype from the initial wireframes and conducted moderated tests with two participants. This process allowed me to refine the specific types of information users sought about each burger and the functionalities they required for each restaurant they considered visiting.

Bringing the Vision to Life with a High-Fidelity Prototype
I then crafted the visual design and applied it to the enhanced mid-fidelity wireframes. The branding aimed to evoke a sense of sophistication and culinary adventure, resonating with foodies and urban consumers who relish nightlife and gourmet experiences. High-quality images of gourmet dishes and trendy nightlife scenes were incorporated to capture users' attention and convey the vibrancy of dining experiences.
